Greene County Extension and Boone County Extension are partnering again this year to host two crop marketing meetings in Ogden, open free of charge to anybody interested in learning more through hearing guest speakers who are experts on the topic.
The Ogden ag marketing meetings will start with a session on Thursday, Feb. 13, beginning at 6:30 pm at the Leonard Good Community Center, located at 114 SW 8th Street in Ogden. Refreshments will be served. The sessions are provided free of charge, thanks to sponsorship from West Central Cooperative and the Iowa Farm Bureau.
The first meeting will feature ISU Extension and Outreach farm management specialist Steven Johnson, who will discuss the topic of revenue protection decisions, including the latest information on crop insurance coverage and preliminary thoughts on the 2014 Farm Bill and what that means for revenue protection options.
“I know Steve has been watching developments to the Farm Bill for the last two years,” said Michael Cooley, Greene County Extension’s county Extension coordinator. “It will be great to hear from him about those updates, as well as the latest information on crop insurance coverage and the different options available.”
A second meeting will then be held on Thursday, March 13, again at the community center in Ogden. Participants will hear from ISU Extension and Outreach climatologist Elwynn Taylor to talk about the 2014 crop weather outlook, followed by Johnson, who will present information on 2014 crop marketing outlook and strategies.
